Dear Sweetbox fans!
My name is Heiko Schmidt and I have been the Executive Producer of SWEETBOX since its inception in 1995. SWEETBOX has always featured great artists, from Kimberly Kearney (1995), Dacia Bridges (1996) and Tina Harris (1997-1999), to Jade Villalon (2000-2006). At the moment, I am thrilled to be working with Jamie, the new SWEETBOX singer, producing fresh, new songs with internationally renowned producers like Toby Gad (Fergie, Ricky Martin), Michael Jay (Celine Dion, Kylie Minogue), Andy Marvel (Jessica Simpson, Madonna), Alex Cantrell (Jo Jo) and many more. She is singing and rehearsing to take her place as the new voice of Sweetbox, continuing the project's tradition. With Jamie's voice, Sweetbox will follow up on the success of over 3.5 million albums and 2.5 million singles, millions of compilations and digital downloads sold worldwide. The new album „SWEETBOX - THE NEXT GENERATION“ will be released in 2008.
Right now we are very pleased to show you the new SWEETBOX website and hopefully you will share our happiness. Enjoy!
Love, Peace and Music,
Heiko Schmidt
BIO
Jamie – the new voice of Sweetbox
Life is but a string of precious moments. Like pearls on a necklace they shimmer and are the keepsakes memories of the time that lies between them. For Jamie, that first pearl was when her grandmother sang lullabies so that she would stop crying as a child. And from then on it seemed pretty clear that many of those pearly mementos would be filled to the brim with music. Jamie's life began to vibrate, stirring into motion the lifes of all that came into contact with her amazing voice. In her small little hometown in California there is not a single soul that has not heard Jamie sing at school, at church or walking in the streets. The impression made was so immense, so overwhelming, that the whole town gathered for a fundraising concert to support Jamie's musical talent and enable her to pursue a career in Los Angeles. Which is exactly what Jamie did, starting to audition for record contracts, as well as modelling for an agency in LA.
But life is not only those pearly moments – concerts, events, and photo shoots. There is lots of string to cross before the next pearl, so Jamie got a taste of that too. First high hopes, then bitter tears – whenever a chance for success disappeared as suddenly as it had turned up. The string seemed endless and Jamie was about to give up and go back home defeated when her modelling agent called and informed her about an audition held by German Paramedia, the longtime management company behind the internationally successful project SWEETBOX. Taking the chance head on, with her amazing voice Jamie immediately impressed executive producer Heiko Schmidt, who invited the extraordinary talent to the studio of producer Bernd Burgdorf (Pink!) in Beverly Hills, for some test recordings the next day. And when Heiko offered her a contract, Jamie had in just a few days gone from defeated talent to being the new face of Sweetbox. So much for the pearls that lay in wait all along.
Since then Jamie has been travelling the globe, working with internationally renowned producers like Toby Gad (Fergie, Ricky Martin), Michael Jay (Celine Dion, Kylie Minogue), Andy Marvel (Jessica Simpson, Madonna), Alex Cantrell (Jo Jo) and many more. She is singing and rehearsing to take her place as the new voice of Sweetbox, continuing the project's tradition of talented vocal performances from Kimberly Kearney, Dacia Bridges, Tina Harris to Jade Villalon. With Jamie's voice, Sweetbox will follow up on the success of over 3.5 million albums and 2.5 million singles, millions of compilations and digital downloads sold worldwide – count on that because Jamie still has a lot more pearls to come.
HISTORY
Sweetbox was created in 1995 by executive producer Heiko Schmidt and producer Roberto "Geo" Rosan. "Booyah Here We Go" was the first hit single in 1995 with the voice of singer Kimberly Kearney, followed by "Shakalaka". "Shakalaka" was performed by Dacia Bridges after Kimberly Kearney left the project and peaked #1 on the New York City Club Charts for 3 weeks.
The rise to international success followed in 1997 with a new lead singer named Tina Harris and the release of the worldwide smash hit "Everything´s Gonna Be Alright". The single entered the Top Ten charts in ten different European countries and hit the top of music charts all over the world as well. Due to the immense success of Sweetbox in Asia and Europe, the hit Single "Everything´s Gonna Be Alright" was released in America in 1998 and was featured in Lancôme perfume commercials. The first debut album "SWEETBOX" by Tina Harris in 1998 began to brand the musical profile of Sweetbox – classical themes combined with pop elements. The album reached double platinum status in Japan and sold over 3 million copies worldwide. Despite the band´s success, Tina Harris left the band in 1998.
In 1999 Jade Villalon was invited to join the band to become the new lead singer of Sweetbox. The first Sweetbox Album "Classified" with new lead singer Jade Villalon was published in 2001 and received gold status in Japan immediately. Due to the incredible success of the band, Sweetbox was asked to perform the three vocal songs for the English version of the video game "Final Fantasy X-2" later that year. These songs were also released on the third Sweetbox album "Adagio" in 2004. In December 2006, Jade Villalon decided to pursue her solo career and left SWEETBOX.
"Complete Best" which features 45 tracks including a lot of smash hits from the past albums, was finally released in December 2007 only in Japan and has sold over 100.000 copies so far.
Over the years, Sweetbox has recieved dozens of awards. Recognized as Asia's number one cross over artist, Sweetbox has recieved two Japanese Gold Disc Awards for Best Song ("Everything´s Gonna Be Alright") and Best International Artist. Sweetbox was also awarded the Digital Cyeworld Award for being Korea's all time best selling download artist (international). To date Sweetbox has sold over 3,500,000 albums, 2,500,000 singles, approx. 50,000,000 compilation units and over 2,000,000 downloads.
Sweetbox has never been ordinary or predictable and it looks like Sweetbox will continue to delight fans all over the world with this enormous passion and emotional power for another decade …
